3D Animation using Maya

Here are my first attempts at using Maya:

This was a trial to see how key frames work and to get us used to the layout and tools on Maya.
The first study task involves making a 3D canon fire a ball at a wall and then bounce off of it.
This is a current work in progress that I am trying to complete.

The Sun Setting

I was able to capture this great scene of the sun shining through the Stockport Viaduct and leaving an amazing glow on the building shown.

Thaumatropes

A Thaumatrope is 'A cardboard disc held between two pieces of string. A birdcage drawing is on one side and a bird on the other. When the strings are twisted the disc spins and the bird appears to be in the cage.' - Richard Williams - The Animator's Survival Kit

I decided to try and make my own thaumatrope as a trial after reading about this in the 'Survival Kit', here is my result!:

First Time using Toon Boom to make a Bowling Ball, Football and Ping Pong Ball Roll Down Stairs

I preferred to draw on the graphic tablets in order to create these animations, here are my results:

Bowling Ball

 Football
 Ping Pong Ball
I think that the Ping Pong Ball moves far too slowly so I need to find a way to increase the speed of the ball, maybe changing the frame rate.

Manchester A-Z

Today each student was put into a group using the letters of the alphabet. I was in group of 5, each with the letter 'L' and our task was to explore Manchester and visit buildings/places that begin with the Letter 'L'. We had to record (through photographs/videos) the places we visited and then upload our work to be looked at by our tutors at the end of the day.

The main aims of this task were to 1) Talk to each other and  2) Think about the city as an amazing resource that it is and that is ours to embrace.

We were given a few ideas of places to look at by the tutors, these are shown below:

Manchester Central 'L'ibrary

At the end of the day, we met with our tutors at 'GRUB', Baring Street, Manchester!

It was a great day, meeting new people and exploring Manchester!
