Paper Cut Out Creation - Castle with Knights:

For this study task we had to create something using paper and only paper. Once again I found my inspiration in my Inktober drawing for 'Day 13' which was based around the word 'Guarded' as you will be able to see in my previous posts. I really enjoyed this task and the learning that came with it, as I found that I was able to use one sheet of paper to create the main structure of the castle, without actually separating the piece of paper. Here are my results:

This photograph is great in showing how each element of the main structure of the castle is taken from the same white piece of A5 paper.

I found it really interesting to photograph my creation using different angles of lighting as it worked very well to help produce some beautiful shadows!

Research on Caravagio and Vermeer - Chiaroscuro:

Caravaggio was an Italian artist who showed great contrast between dark and light in his paintings, here is an example of his work:

Vermeer was a Dutch painter who had a similar style to Caravaggio through his use of chiaroscuro throughout his works as shown below:

Creative Making Study Task 1 - 'Observe and Collect'

The first Study Task for creative making involves creating two collections of objects and then drawing from them! Today I shot the photographs of my two collections and here they are:

My first collection is based on the theme of 'Blue Objects', this is because it is the favourite colour of most of the people in my family -

My second collection is themed on light sources/torches. I have chosen to do this as there is a place in Whales that I have visited with my family and it has a beautiful lighthouse. Thinking about lighthouses led me to come up with the idea of using torches to light up a model lighthouse I have at home -
